My mini MAC Naked Honey Collection Review :)

Okay, so on Sunday night me and two of my best friends, Chris and Lorie visited SunValley mall out in Concord, here in the Bay Area. Knowing that I can't pass by MAC without stopping there, they came with me and enjoyed it more than they thought, and even came out with some goodies! :) While the MA was pulling out a product from the drawer for Lorie, I caught a glipse of one of the Naked Honey collection's highlighting powders. My eyes went O__O and I was like, "YOU ALREADY HAVE IT?!" and Glenn (the MA) says, "Yeah! Do you wanna see it?" and we were like, "DUH OF COURSE!" LOL!

He let us into the back where they had a mini makeup room set up, with the promotional displays on a counter, next to a look book (i'm assuming it was the collection's face charts), and the summer trend bags for the Style Warriors collection were on the counter as well (the LARGE sized bag is a lot LARGER than I thought it was! Remember the Hello Kitty large bag? Yeah, it's like 6x bigger! HAHA!). I REALLY wanted to take more pictures but I was sooooo shy! So we snuck in taking this picture really quick, as well as some on my iPhone.

Too juiced haha!

The collection<3

Like with every MAC collection that comes out, i'm usually always excited to see the collection in person first, and then decide what to buy, and by having the chance to see it early helped me make my decisions! The only problem was that, I didn't want to swatch everything because all of it was BRAND new and I was shy! HAHAH! Maybe next time when I have another chance to see a collection early, i'll try to do a full on review and swatch :) So out of the stuff I did try out, here's what I thought:

Highlight powder in Honey Light($24.50 U.S.)

Description from maccosmetics.com:

"A High-Light Powder specially created for the Naked Honey collection. Features an embossed honeycomb pattern. Superfine, impeccably pearlized, it creates soft highlights on cheek, brow, shoulders - anywhere on the body. Limited edition.

Honey Light is a light peachy gold with shimmer."

Glen applied this to my cheekbones after he redid my face (yeah, he did everything since I was looking a little orange and he re-color matched me as well) and let's just say this highlighting powder added that extra scheen to my skin that made it glow. It looks very natural and he actually used it when the TOP layer of the powder was already at it's minimum. The top layer seems like a very shimmery, bright gold highlight, but it doesn't apply as heavy as it may seem. Use it lightly just to make sure you don't over do it :). I'll probably end up getting the darker one as well because both are beautiful and limited, and the honeycomb design on the powder is just TOO CUTE! Did I mention this smelled like honey too?

Naked Honey Skin Salve ($18.50 U.S.) - New from MAC, the description states:

"Formulated from organic beeswax, sunflower oil and other natural ingredients, this rich honey-scented and flavoured salve instantly moisturizes and helps recondition dry skin. Multi-purpose. Use everywhere. Limited edition."

When I first saw this online, I was curious on how I would use it. I have really dry skin on my elbows, my knees, and especially on the back of my arms (stupid dry bumpy skin!), and I thought that since this salve was for multi-use and can be used everywhere, it seemed interesting and I wanted to try it out before I bought it. The consistency of the salve in the pretty good sized container is really thick and smells awesome. A little could go a long way, and I would suggest using a little at a time to build it up instead of using a large amount. I tried it on my elbow, rubbed it in and to me, it wasn't as sticky as I thought it would be which was good. It dried fast but kept my elbow soft for the rest of the day. I compared it to my other dry elbow, and there was a difference. I think the difference would be more dramatic over the time I use it. I want to try it on my lips too for moisturizing it, because the MAC Lip Conditioner in a tube is just way too slippery for me to wear over night. I'm excited to get this because I haven't been taking care of my skin too well, and now's the time! Summer is here and warm days = skin bearing clothes :)

MAC Creations Hue: Naked Honey ($25.00) - Description:

"An aromatic journey that traces honey's fragrant heart back to summer's sweetest blooms. Energy starts to buzz, spirits soar, light floral and woodsy notes float toward an electric finale. Sweet and sexy all the way. Limited edition."

This perfume is the FIRST MAC perfume that I ever really liked! Two sprays and it stayed on for longer than my Escada perfume does (and I LOVE that perfume, but it doesn't stay long.. and for the price... ugh -__-). This one smelled way better than the other one (Africanimal). Africananimal has a more... musky scent? LOL I don't know the word :) Not much to say about this product, but if you love the scent of honey, you'll love this perfume.

Overall, I really like this collection! I can say that I will end up buying more things from this collection, than what I got from the Sugarsweet Collection or the Rose Romance one. I still want to see the lipglasses and eyeshadows, as well as the lotions. This is already available online, and MAC is also having their friends and family online sale soon! If I find the details, i'll post it here.

Check it out and let me know what you think!

Until later, beauties! <3

Aww, poor blog :(

I know i've been seriously neglecting this poor thing! Life has been super busy and crazy lately, but since i'm at work alone i'll give a quick update :)

Guess what! I'm going to be graduating from CSUEB on Sunday, June 14th! I'm going to have my B.A. in graphic design, and what I really want to do is go into product design and marketing with a cosmetics company... I know that by searching, Benefit was hiring for a graphic designer... but we'll see what happens. Who knows where my degree will take me... I just can't be scared of leaving home anymore. If not product design with a cosmetics company, my dream job would be with Disney or Pixar! If you haven't seen "UP" yet, what are you doing sitting here reading this? YOU MUST GO NOW!! :D

I have still been painting my nails and changing the color every week, so if you follow me on Twitter, you can check my updates there. Also I think I accidentally rejected one follower request... Strawberry Shortcake I think, and i'm very sorry! If you still want to follow me, i'll definitely approve your request :)

I also have some looks to post, lately i've just been doing my makeup for going out at night, so lots of smokey eye looks and dark lips (not together obviously LOL).

annnnnnnnnnd I can't wait until we head to Hawai'i in the summer! We have our tickets already and are officially island bound.

I really want to go to IMATS so bad! But it's my boyfriend's birthday weekend and I highly doubt he'll want to be spending it at a makeup convention LOL, but I still tried to convince him telling him we can go to Disneyland for free on Sunday, 6/21 for his actual birthday. His answer was still no :( *le sigh*

If i've missed anything else, i'll put it in my next update.

Until next time my pretties!

3 Reviews, 2 Late Birthday presents, and 1 Dance Competition

Helloooo all! Yeah I know, SUPER lacking on updating this but, I am busy with school (last quarter of college!), work, and life just keeps getting in the way but hey, I’m living it right? I always throw thoughts for blogging in the back of my mind so... here comes the long post! If you follow me on Twitter, I update that a LOT but I guess the Blogger Twitter app is broken? It won’t let me add it on here!

I wanted to start doing reviews on products i’ve tried, so here’s my first one! There are actually 3 product reviews I’m doing so hopefully this helps or informs anyone that happens to stop by and read what I have to say.

Up first…

Product: Beauty Secrets Hardener
Price: $2.99, $2.49 with Sally’s Club Card (I HIGHLY recommend getting a membership! Only $5 for the whole year and you save a LOT by buying with the club price)
Where to buy: Sally Beauty Supply
Description: “Beauty Secrets Nail Hardener an Thickener is a high gloss top coat that strengthens and thickens nails by cross coupling protein with your nail fibers.”

Thoughts: Instead of using this as a topcoat, I used it as a base coat. My nails have been VERY fragile, soft, and damaged due to having acrylic nails. I didn’t want to keep up with them and have been looking for a good nail base that won’t have my nail polish chip after a day or two (I’m an avid typer so my nails always chip super fast). The first nail polish base I was using was not working well (the review on it is after this) so I decided to give this a try after reading the reviews about it on the Sally Beauty Supply website. I used this under China Glaze’s Shower Together, which is a flat blue color, and I noticed that you could see little ridges and marks under the polish, probably from an uneven coat of the hardener. I assumed it wouldn’t matter since it’s clear, and liquidy, so as long as I covered the whole nail, I’d be ok. It wasn’t ok. I would suggest if you use this to make sure you evenly coat the whole nail, let it fully dry, and then put the polish over it. Besides that, I’ve noticed that my nails are actually harder, and my nail polish has not chipped at all, and I was only using it for a week. The little ridges and marks seen by me were starting to get annoying, so I changed my nail polish to China Glaze’s Raspberry Festival, which is a bright red with tiny red sparkles in it. I made sure to be careful to coat the hardener very evenly and let it dry, then put the polish on, and it looks way better than it did with the matte color.

Pros: Very affordable, can be used as a base OR topcoat, really does harden nails and stops peeling

Cons: Application needs to really be evenly coated, which is extra effort, but all worth it.

Overall: I would suggest it if you really want a good quality nail hardener for a good price. I’ll most likely buy it again in the future when I run out :)

Next:

Product: Seche Clear Crystal Clear Base Coat and Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat
Price: Base: $6.99, $3.75 with SCC, Top: $7.99, $4.95 with SCC
Where to buy: Sally Beauty Supply
Description: “Seche Clear Base Coat provides stronger adhesion for longer lasting wear time.” & “Seche Dry Fast Top Coat provides a durable high gloss shine.”

Thoughts: I decided to do these two products together because as I was reviewing them, I used them at the same time. I believe that when products are of the same company, they should work better together. In this case, one works really well, and the other… not so much. I heard about the Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat from MissChievous in one of her nail polish hauls, and loved how shiny it made her nails look, almost like a gel topcoat. I decided to buy the Seche Clear base as well, believing that it would make my manicure last longer. I say that the topcoat does works REALLY well and does dry extremely fast! My nails would dry in less than 10 minutes, 15 tops. I love the high gloss and consistency of the formula. This is my new favorite topcoat, as I was using OPI’s topcoat before my sister took it haha. I just didn’t really like it as much as I like this one. As for the basecoat, it didn’t really make my nail polish last longer. I have only been using China Glaze lately (before, I was never really a nail polish fan but now I am thanks to watching plenty of YouTube videos ha), and when I used this coat, it would chip after 2 days. What a waste of a manicure… I hate it when my nail polish chips, and hate it that it happened sooner than I thought. When I switched to using the Beauty Secrets Hardener as my base, I noticed a HUGH difference and improvement. My nail polish didn’t chip at all and it had already been a week… I was itching to wear another color so I just redid it… but that shows that the Seche Clear doesn’t work as well as the Beauty Secrets base.

Pros: Basecoat: Not as strong of a smell as the topcoat. Topcoat: Dries fast, high gloss, long lasting.

Cons: Basecoat: Chips EXTREMELY easily. Does not last long at all! Topcoat: Nothing so far :]

Overall: I think that other people would also assume to buy the two as a pair, but I would stick to buying just the topcoat of this brand, and trying a different basecoat (like the Beauty Secrets one I reviewed above).

A few days ago my bestfriend, Chris, surprised me with my late birthday present… AND I LOVE IT SOOOOOOO MUCH!!! Thank you sis!! <3

Cute card<3

I can’t believe she remembered that I REALLY wanted this!! Pink & gold Hello Kitty face outline necklace

And she found another thing to go with it that’s just sooooooo me, hehe. Hawaiian Hello Kitty keycap. I love her tan and hibiscus flower LOL

Thank you again sooo much, if you’re reading this :)

Another thing I wanted to show… my most recent China Glaze Haul (I think from about 2 weeks ago?) JOANA this is all your fault! HAHA

From Left to Right: Make An Entrance, Avalanche, Shower Together

By the way, I absolutely HATE how Sally’s brought up the freaking price on their China Glaze nail polish! The regular price is $5.99, and $3.25 with the club card. Now with the club card its $4.49?!?!!? WHAT!! Ughhhhhh, why why why? The China Glaze Kicks collection is already out and I really wanted to purchase them through Sally since they’re having a buy 2 get 1 free sale… but Sally’s does lag on the collections, AND the price went up. Boo :( I guess I’ll just purchase them online…

Recent NCOTW (nail color [s] of the week:) From recent to least recent:

China Glaze Raspberry Festival (LE Summer Collection 2009)

(I should have China Glaze Shower Together here, but I forgot to take a picture!)

China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise (Neon)

China Glaze Orange Marmalade (LE Summer Collection 2009)

Annnnnnnnnd I finally received my business cards! I needed them to apply for a MAC Pro card, so hopefully I get that soon… i’m so behind on my collections but I do have a HUGE wishlist of what I want… yee!

Lastly, a picture of Selina and I at the Tarena Tahiti competition this past weekend. It was fun but SUCH A LONG one-day dance competition geez. I guess the pageant made it last longer than expected… and the fact that they couldn’t find the key to unlock the gym’s bleachers for like.. 3 hours ;p.

Us in our pageant outfits

& Us in our Ori costume... All natural sistas;)

Anywhoo… I have another busy weekend coming up filled with different things to celebrate… so I’ll update on that later… my stomach is super hungry and the BF is coming soon so… til next time my pretties!!

Speedy Recovery Weekend

So, I actually recovered better than I thought! After the whole procedure on Thursday, that was the only day I stayed in bed and rested the whole time. Friday, I was feeling really good (was it the major painkillers I needed to take? probably!), and had no pain at all whatsoever. I was just sleepy cause of the meds, other than that soreness came and gone which told me to retake my pills. So other than that, I got to catch up on a lot of stuff I missed while I was sick (bleh, being sick BEFORE the oral operation :).

Here's my boyfriend on that Friday morning cutting the LONG grass in the backyard. He did it for my dad :)

Yeah, what a guy haha!

Later that night, we headed to La PiƱata for my friend's Joni's "going away party"... turns out she was going to announce that her and her boyfriend, JP, are GETTING MARRIED!! AWWWWWWWWW :) CONGRATULATIONS BABES!!! Some pics of the night... none with the soon to be bride and groom cause they were super busy!

Wolfpack, minus Joni :(

Us again with the BF

AND THE PICTURE OF THE NIGHT!!! THIS IS WHAT PATRON DOES TO YOU KIDS! YEECCKK!! But they had fun :)

Saturday, I did Pipai's makeup for her junior prom! She looked absolutely BEAUTIFUL! My sis Eeks did her hair ♥

After we were done.

aaannnd, the final look! They just grow up so fast :(

So after we were all done, I had to get myself ready to go to my friend's surprise birthday party kick it at their house. Good times as always, just wasn't feelin too well... and I couldn't DRINK! That's okay, I gotta think "DIET!" Competition season is JUST around the corner :)

Trying to see if my cheeks were still puffy... they were ;p

Ladies

A baby bottle next to a bottle of Hen??

Gentlemen

Chester & the hair all up on my forehead x___x

Sunday was an even more chill day... cleaned up a LOT of stuff in my room since it just smelled like... sickness for days hahah! Ate at Red Chili's = FAVORITE! Did some damage at Sally's & finally made a decision on what heels to buy :)

My little pretties

Sally's was having a "Discover Color" sale and ALL their nail polishes are buy 2 get 1 free, and since I had my Sally's Beauty Supply Discount Card, I got them for an even better deal! One China Glaze is $5.99 regular price, but with the discount card they're $3.25. Not bad right? Say I got two at the discounted price, plus the free one... it's like I got THREE for the price of ONE regular one! LOOOVVEEE ITTTTT!! Plus, I snagged the China Glaze Summer 2009 Collection for cheap :) They got their shipment in super late but I was glad I got there before they ran out<3

Top Row: Orange Marmalade (LE), Watermelon Rind (LE), Strawberry Fields (LE), Grape Juice (LE)

Bottom Row: Raspberry Festival (LE), Sexy in the City (Perm), Turned Up Turquoise [Neon] (Perm), Cherry Pie (LE)

My 3rd free one was "For Audrey" and I gave that to Nikita for her birthday :) Right now, i'm wearing Orange Marmalade, but I think it looks a lot nicer on darker skin tones... and not on my pasty hands haha

LOOVEEEDD this weekend! Good times, good weather, good company. Now it's back to reality and the weather just went back to being crappy again :( Goodnight all!

p.s. and the winner is...

SEXY, SEXY. Thanks, Babe! ♥

WHY OH WHY

Must I be such a broke college student? I've wanted shoes like this FOREVER! I don't care if it's Spring, I stay wearing black ALWAYS! Then again, who said you can't? IDK, Spring just screams "PASTEL" colors, don't you think? *shrug*

Anyways, THE GOODS!

From AldoShoes.com, these JUST came to the top of the list. LOVE IT!

This pair from BakersShoes.com I've been eying for a long time, but i think the ones above are better.

I had a third one (also from BakersShoes.com) but, now that I look at it, it doesn't seem as nice as these other two do.

Still awake, and waiting for the BF to come home <3

hello hello new blog!

So, how many times have I started a blog?

... 372819472189479 times, cause I never keep up with it!

BUT!

I will make a promise to myself to keep up with this because I recently got addicted to reading blogs and this will easily put them all together in one place, instead of freaking opening them up in my bookmarked pages (zuh... why didn't I just do that before?)

ANNNNNND

Because my ass will be in bed the whoooollleee weekend since I just got my wisdom teeth taken out and I have no idea what i'll be doing except the usuals (sleeping, eating, WHATEVS). It sucks doing this cause I was sick again during spring break so I can't enjoy this BEAUTIFUL weather the Bay is having right now! *cry* As my Chester says, it's only the beginning and the weather will be getting even better <3

Recently addicted to China Glaze nail polishes. One of my faves - LIMBO BIMBO :)

Cutesy card my mom's young male coworker gave me! Let's see if the bf does the same thing, HA!

It's freaking backwards, geez. Taken by my MacBook Pro.

annnnnnnnddddd!

MY EXTREMELY HANDSOME BOY, MARLEY

I just watched "Marley and Me" last night, and I was bawling my eyes out. LAME, I know. But it was a good movie! Slumdog Millionaire was too.

Until next time my pretties!
